What Is Gout?
June 3rd, 2009, Posted in Diet FitnessGout is caused by the buildup of too much uric acid in the body. Uric acid comes from the breakdown of substances called purines. Purines are found in all of your body’s tissues. They are also in many foods, such as liver, dried beans and peas, and anchovies.
Your body can deal with almost everything that you throw at it, but if you have any sort of kidney disease or problem then your body will have problems dealing with uric acid. The uric acid that can’t be filtered and expelled in your urine will turn into crystals and these crystals congregate in your joints and cause gout pain.
