The Ultimate Foods That Speed Up Your Metabolism
Any diet that even comes close to being healthy, will tell you to eat plenty of vegetables. But what kind of vegetables should we be eating to get foods that speed up your metabolism?
To boost our metabolism, as part of a healthy, balanced dietmost any type of vegetable will do the job. But if you really want to see the weight start pouring off of you, you need to start considering calories.
To basically understand what calories are, consider a calorie as nothing more than energy.
Whenever you eat something, it doesn’t matter what it is, it will give your body calories. Whether it’s a stalk of celery or a candy bar, everything gives us calories. Our body has to do something with all these calories. It will burn them if it needs some energy. If no energy is needed, they get stored as fat.
What we need are foods that will speed up your metabolism, but still not provide enough calories. We know our metabolism will slow down if we cut back on calories too much – so what we need is to trick our body into thinking we’re getting enough calories. If we’re able to keep our metabolism fast but still not get enough calories, then our fat will disappear.
In a perfect world, there would be a way to keep our metabolism working at full speed but still not getting enough calories. Then, of course, the balance of our body’s needs would come from fat. (Getting skinny would be no problem.)
Enter negative calorie foods.
Negative calorie foods are like an edible version of a jog around the park. You are still getting all the nutrients you need, your metabolism is still working at full speed and yet you still have a deficit of energy – which your body provides by burning fat calories.
For foods that speed up your metabolism, it doesn’t get any better than that!
By now, you are probably wondering what negative calorie foods are?
All of our various bodily functions require energy. In other words you need a certain amount of calories just to digest food.
So, a negative calorie food is one which provides X number of calories, but burns XX number in being digested. In theory, you could eat non-stop all day long and still lose weight!
With negative calorie foods, they use more calories during digestion, than they provide us. So, theory says that we could eat all day and wind up losing weight! Here is what we mean. When you eat a piece of broccoli, it gives you about 25 calories. Your body needs about 80 calories just for digestion, so you lose 55 calories every time you eat some broccoli.
Pretty neat, wouldn’t you say?
Here’s a listing of a few negative calorie vegetables…
Garlic, asparagus, zucchini, green beans, Garden cress, beet root, turnip, lettuce, broccoli, spinach, onion, cabbage, radish, carrot, cucumber, cauliflower, celery, chicory, hot chili.
There are quite a few more. It isn’t physically or scientifically possible NOT to lose weight if you are eating a negative calorie diet. Check out my website for more information.
